The problem
A private halachic calendar needs to turn sensitive personal history into a reliable day-by-day view, planning timeline and discreet reminders. A normal civil calendar cannot express rules governed by Hebrew dates, day-and-night periods, local times and a sequence of prior events.
Different customs change the calculation choices, while the product has to work across languages and right-to-left layouts. Privacy affects storage, synchronisation and even what a notification is allowed to reveal.
The solution
Lunarah is a private calendar and planning application built around the complete personal timeline. It combines recorded events, Hebrew and civil dates, location-aware boundaries and configurable calculation rules to create calendar, list and guidance views from the same underlying history.
Presets simplify common preferences while keeping individual choices visible. The multilingual app supports right-to-left layouts, neutral reminders and both device-only privacy and account synchronisation. It remains a calendar aid under development, with questions of practice left to the user's qualified authority.
The decisions behind it
- Time is location-dependent
- Day and night boundaries follow the selected location. A midnight-based calendar would not express the same events correctly.
- Rules vary by custom
- Calculation choices are settings rather than one hidden universal rule, and prior events influence what is shown next.
- Privacy reaches the notification
- A reminder can be useful without putting personal calendar details on a lock screen or in an email subject.
